My introduction to the Preston James Fund in 2008 initially stemmed from a university assignment. Little did I realise at the time the significance the Fund would play in my family. In June this year, my younger cousin was admitted to Melbourne’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit with acute pneumonia and a collapsed lung. My first thought was ‘I wish he could be at the Mater’. However, it wasn’t long until I realised that the amazing medical breakthroughs and accomplishments the Preston James Fund had achieved in Brisbane, were now recognised on a national level and common practice.
I can proudly and gratefully say that because of the Preston James Fund’s dedication to ground-breaking paediatric critical care initiatives, and the Fund’s provision of life-saving equipment and changes to how staff administer treatment, has also meant that Noah is set to make a full recovery.
