I was fortunate enough to begin working with our co-chair Mary Steele in 2008. After awhile I learnt of the Preston James Fund and what it was all about and knew instantly that if there was any way that I could help, I wanted to be involved.
Attending the first committee meeting was an experience in itself – meeting all of the smart, beautiful people that make up the committee and observing how they are dedicating so much energy into growing a charity which is saving the lives of children was truly inspirational.
I had my first tour of the Mater Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit earlier this year where I saw first hand exactly what we are trying to achieve. The experience was very emotional to witness and only reinforces the desire to do whatever it takes to help save these beautiful lives that are relying on machines and trained staff in their time of need.
