A parent’s unexpected loss of a child is not something that I can begin to comprehend.  But when I relate it to the human spirit of my friend Mary Steele, I learn that with tragedy, there is a learning and triumph of the human spirit that prevails.

I’m not sure that anything can prepare you for the critical work we’ve seen in practice at the Mater Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.  The brave kids, devoted parents and staff who share their experiences with us so that we can try to ensure that every child is given the best chance of realising the joy of that human spirit. In working and laughing with the Preston James Fund, I have met a group of women who bring the joy of sharing, giving, compassion and loyalty to a very worthy cause. This is why we are committed to working together to support the essential work PICU’s do to save children’s lives.
